Stefano Imbert is an illustrator, graphic designer, and educator based in New York City, a place he has called home for nearly thirty years. Born and trained in Italy, he developed an early love for expressive linework and visual storytelling before moving to New York to continue his studies at the School of Visual Arts, where he graduated and began shaping the foundation of his professional career.

Over the years, Stefano’s work has become closely tied to the city’s cultural landscape. For almost two decades, he has been the principal illustrator for the Mint Theater Company and the Boomerang Theatre Company, creating the visual identities for many of their productions.

His illustration practice extends to editorial assignments, fashion illustration, and visual communication for cultural institutions—always grounded in a commitment to clarity, atmosphere, and narrative intent. His work has been featured in numerous exhibitions in New York City and across the United States.

Teaching has become an essential part of his creative life. Since 2017, Stefano has been a faculty member at CUNY Hostos Community College, where he teaches drawing, illustration, design, and color theory. His classes emphasize observation, narrative thinking, and the development of a personal visual voice—values that echo his own artistic journey.

For nearly seventeen years, Stefano also served on the Board of Directors of the Society of Illustrators, contributing to exhibitions, programming, and the broader mission of supporting and advancing the art of illustration, as well as performing the role of International Chair. In addition, he continues to volunteer with The Ink Well Foundation, a group of professional artists and illustrators who share the healing power of art with children facing challenges.

He continues to live between Rome, Italy, and New York City, balancing professional practice, teaching, and ongoing collaborations with both cities’ artistic community.
